As a promoter, performer, and architect of the New England music scene over the past decade, Jay Giacoppo, a.k.a. DJ Melee, has cemented his reputation as a top US artist and DJ. Now, with his successful co-creation of the Monism Music imprint and the buzz of a successful 2009 Winter Music Conference propelling its back to back releases The Drop and ISTF up the Beatport charts, DJ Melee is expanding beyond his role as the US tech-funk diplomat into a global juggernaut.
Always a glutton workhorse, DJ Melee originally climbed the ladder to General Manager of Satellite Records Boston and Mass Music, while balancing his duties as promotions manager/resident DJ for the former award-winning Avalon Boston, and Regional Director for the Red Bull Music Academy, while maintaining a busy schedule of performances and sharing the bill with the majority of dance musics biggest names. New England's premiere After-Dark culture Dance Crew
5E was created early in Spring of 2011 but it's inception dates back much, much farther. In the late 90's to early 2000's a group of friends owned the dance floors of the Party Scene. Tho in various dance crews at the time, a seed was planted that one day they would all come together to show the next generation what it meant... to be a dancer. Thus 5th Element was born.
Ideology of 5th Element
ARTISTICALLY: It represents the five forms of dance brought-in during it's inception. The styles of House, Hip-Hop, Breaking, Popping and Locking.
SPIRITUALLY: Along with the elements of Earth, Wind, Fire and Water, we see Dance as the 5th.
STYLISTICALLY: The 5th Element is the unknown. The X-Factor. No one knows what the future holds... all we know is that the sky is the limit. That is why we are 5th Element.
